“Welcome Zip from Stanislaus County Animal Services!”

Zip is a 7 month old, 38lb, what appears to be pure bred border collie. Probably a stock dog from a nearby farm or ranch. He’s the real deal and as a result looking for an active, breed savvy home. Leash walks ain’t cutting it for this guy. We’re aiming to place him into a sport dog home or a training-forward, action packed lifestyle where a dog of this caliber can be mentally and physically fulfilled daily. Zip is quick to bond and would crawl into your skin if he could. Per his foster, he is very friendly and wants to have his person around more often than not. After all, border collies were bred to work closely alongside their people and not miss out on the fun. He likes other dogs but will bark/nip if they get in his space. He is however easily redirected and still decompressing from the shelter. We have no doubt this boy will settle into pack drive shortly. Zip walks well on a leash but has no idea about basic commands. He will need training and patience but overall a good boy. Zip is microchipped, neutered, and UTD on vaccines.
