He doesn't always end up where he thinks the other dog is, though, and may run or crash into them. He would do well with a tolerant dog that isn't bothered by his staring or his forwardness, but would do just as well as a single dog too. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Hooch would benefit from someone who has experience with blind dogs, but would do just as well with someone that is willing to learn and adjust along with him as well. Due to his blindness, he will need a good relationship with a vet, and a predictable environment as he settles. [Some Experience]KIDS: While Hooch has been fairly open to all the new people he's met during his stay at TJO, he may still struggle with unfamiliar environments at first. He would benefit from a predictable, calm place where he can explore in his own time as he maps out his new home, and would do best with older kids that are able to understand how to interact with him without startling him. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Hooch is an active dog, but he is happy to relax as long as his favorite people are around to keep up with his `subtle` requests for attention (he'll turn around and lean his back end into your legs while he waits for you to pet him!). He does pull ahead on the leash quite a bit, though, and would likely benefit from a well-fitted harness. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: While we believe Hooch is around three years old, he was found to be blind upon arrival to TJO. We do not have a definitive answer as to what the cause of his blindness is yet, but there is no concern about any underlying condition at this time. He will likely do well with routine appointments with a primary vet, but may need to be monitored a little more closely due to his impairment. [Above Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Hooch will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and confidence while he adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help him not only learn his basic cues & skills, but also help him to bond with his new owner. [Moderate]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]
