Jerry arrived at TJO testing positive for Canine Parvovirus, a highly contagious virus usually found in puppies and unvaccinated dogs. Luckily he was diagnosed and treated in a timely manner, and has since made a full recovery! Now that he's been medically cleared, he is ready and eager to find his new best match. OTHER PETS: Jerry was a little intense when meeting bigger dogs, but initiated play with a smaller one he met. He could potentially get along with another dog in the home, but would also be happy as an only dog! As always, Jerry will need to meet any dogs he may be living with prior to adoption. [Case-by-Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Jerry is an active dog, but is overall just happy to spend time with his favorite people! He would do well with someone that has previous experience with dogs, but could do well in a home with someone willing to learn as well. [Some Experience]KIDS: Jerry is very tolerant of handling, but has shown some mild signs of resource guarding over food. He would do best in a home with children that are old enough to understand how to interact with him and when to let him have his own space. [13+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Jerry has been playful with people and toys alike, though he is particularly fond of tug toys! He would thrive with a combination of regular exercise and mental enrichment such as food puzzles, scent games, and learning new tricks. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Jerry already understands `sit,` but could always benefit from learning a few new tricks! He will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and confidence while he adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Jerry not only learn his basic cues & skills, but also help him to bond with his new owner. [Moderate]GROOMING: [Minimal]
