Dahlia

Dahlia

Australian Shepherd / Mixed (short coat) · Female

Waiting over 8 years at Tonya Griffith's Animal Rescue, Inc., Frankston, TX

Dahlia is an adult, large female Australian Shepherd mix who is already spayed. She has done well with another dog and enjoys being petted, but she was frightened when first moved from her pen and required a muzzle at that time. Because she has a history of climbing a four foot perimeter fence and escaping through chain-link, she needs a tall, secure barrier and lots of space plus training and enrichment. Spayed female, large Australian Shepherd mix, adult.

Good with other dogs; has run and played with another dog and returned to the pen together. Was scared and attempted to chew the leash when first moved from the pen; a muzzle was used. Climbed a 4-foot perimeter fence and escaped through chain-link; requires a tall, secure fence that cannot be climbed over or dug under. Needs a lot of space to run and access to a water source.

Would benefit from regular training and enrichment opportunities. House training unknown. Compatibility with children and cats unknown. An active home that can provide training and enrichment, a tall secure fence that cannot be climbed or dug under, plenty of running space and access to water, and where other dogs are welcome.
